Talking Doors and Sounding Architectures

Vom 2. bis zum 11. September 2011 hat die Kunstausstellung “OPEN DOORS” interaktive Installationen im öffentlichen Raum von Karlsruhe gezeigt. Zusätzlich zu Arbeiten von Studenten vom Seminar “Lockpicking – Infoart” waren zahlreiche Arbeiten von internationalen Sound und Performance und der Künstlern vertreten.
Am 20. Juni 2011 hat der litauische Gastkünstler Julijonas Urbonas über seine soziokulturelle und interaktive Installation “Talking Doors” und dem begleitenden Workshop-Programm “Sounding Architectures” Vorlesungen an der HfG gehalten. Julijonas Urbonas ist ein Designer, Künstler, Schriftsteller, Ingenieur und ein PhD Student an der  Royal College of Art in London. In 2010 wurde “Talking Doors” der Preis Ars Electronica verliehen. Für seine Arbeit gestaltet Urbonas Türen von öffentlichen Gebäuden in interaktive Musikinstrumente um.

From 2nd till 11th September 2011 the art exhibition “OPEN DOORS” showed interactive installations in public space of Karlsruhe. In addition to works by students from the seminar “Lockpicking – Infoart” numerous works of international sound and performance artists were represented.
On 20 June 2011, Lithuanian guest artist Julijonas Urbonas lectured at the HfG about his socio-cultural and interactive installation “Talking Doors” and the accompanying workshop program “Sounding Architectures”. Julijonas Urbonas is a designer, artist, writer, engineer and PhD student at the Royal College of Art in London. In 2010 “Talking Doors” has been awarded the Prix Ars Electronica. For his work Urbonas transforms doors of public buildings into interactive musical instruments.
