GameLab on the „Festival der Autorenspiele“ in Kassel
From the 13th to the 17th of July 2011 at the art society in Kassel the first „Festival der Autorenspiele SPIELSALON“ takes place. The SPIELSALON reflects the new artistic development of computer games on the theoretical and practical level. Also two members of the HfG-GameLab, Jens Stober and Matthias Richter, are represented there with their works.
The SPIELSALON is an event of the art college and the university of Kassel, supported by the Hessian film and media academy.
Jens M of Stober: 1378 (km)
The player is moved in 1378 to different internal german border segments. Tehreby it is possible for the player to slip in the role of the border guard of the DDR or those of the republic refugee. 1378 as a 3D-Online-Multiplayer-Game offers a real time interaction between the players in the scenario of the past. It falls under the column of “Serious Games”, as well as the Game “Frontiers” codeveloped by Jens M. Stober.
Matthias Richter: NOT A GAME
At first sight a usual Jump and Run, “Not A Game“ turns out fast as something completely different: The game starts to communicate with the player and tries to convince him to put any interaction aside. If the player opposes nevertheless, he finds out bit by bit a story which takes different ways according to the kind of the interaction.
