George Legrady – Machine Vision

George Legrady ist der Direktor des Experimental Visualization Lab of the interdisciplinary PhD program for Media Arts & Technology an der University of California, Santa Barbara.

George Legrady is the director of the Experimental Visualization Lab of the interdisciplinary PhD program for Media Arts & Technology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. “Machine Vision: Directions in Computational Photography & Sensing Systems for Arts & Engineering” was the title of his lecture. The lab focuses on new forms of visual representation in the intersection of interactivity and data processing / data visualization. Since five years he has also been co-directing an IGERT program for interdisciplinary multimedia research of the National Science Foundation. Legrady’s educational focus is the integration of artistic research and content development of technological processes for the training of artist-engineers and engineer-artists of tomorrow. Recent research projects dealt with the visualization of data from public sources in the context of large interactive installations in Europe, North America and Asia. A cooperation with the University of Arts and Design Karlsruhe (HfG), Institute for Postdigital Narratives with Prof. Michael Bielicky came into being.
